Corrections and Retractions Policy

Corrections and Retractions Policy

Enki Journal for Humanities and Social Sciences is committed to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record and follows the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidance on corrections and retractions. This policy applies to all articles published in the journal.

Types of Action

  1. Correction: Issued when an error does not affect the validity of the results or conclusions, for example an error in an author's name or affiliation, a citation, a figure or a table. A correction notice linked to the article states what was changed.
  2. Expression of Concern: Issued when there is reasonable evidence of a serious problem with a study but an investigation is ongoing or cannot be concluded in a timely way. A note linked to the article remains in place until a final decision is reached.
  3. Retraction: Issued when serious misconduct is established, such as plagiarism, fabrication or falsification, duplicate publication, a breach of research ethics, deliberate concealment of a material conflict of interest, or a substantial error that makes the findings unreliable. Authors may also request retraction of their own work when they discover a substantial error.

Procedure

  1. Any author, reviewer, reader or academic body may report an error or concern to the editorial office at [email protected].
  2. The Editor-in-Chief examines the report in consultation with the editorial board. The authors are given the right to respond and to provide explanations and evidence, in accordance with the journal's procedure for allegations of academic misconduct.
  3. The decision is reasoned and communicated to the parties concerned. Where serious misconduct is established, the author's institution is informed.

Retraction Notices

A retraction notice is published openly and states the title and authors of the article, the reason for retraction, who requested it, and the date. The notice is linked to the original article. A retracted article remains accessible, clearly marked as retracted, and is removed from the website only where required for legal reasons such as privacy violations or defamation. Its metadata is updated with the services where it has been deposited.

General Principle

No published text is substantially changed after publication without a public notice stating what was changed, why, and when.
