Publication Ethics Committee (COPE) Clauses
First: Researcher Responsibility
- Ethical Commitment: Full commitment to the principles and standards of research and publication ethics.
- Research Originality: Submitting pure and original research, while providing an accurate and comprehensive list of references and sources relied upon.
- Journal Policy: Commitment to writing and formatting the research in accordance with the established policies and regulations within the journal.
- Scientific Integrity and Documentation: Full adherence to the rules of citation, scientific documentation, and publication ethics to safeguard the rights of others.
- Prevention of Redundant Publication: Refraining from submitting any work or research that has been previously published in other scientific journals.
- Simultaneous Submission Prohibitions: Not submitting the same research to more than one scientific journal at the same time.
- Conditional Republication: The researcher may not publish their research in another journal except after receiving an official rejection from the current journal, or upon official and written approval of the submitted research withdrawal request.
- Co-Authors' Consent: Confirming that the consent of all co-authors who contributed substantially and significantly to the preparation of the research has been obtained prior to submission for publication.
- Ordering of Contributions: Accurately acknowledging the contributions of others to the research and sequencing the authors' names based on the scientific contribution of each individual.
- Disclosure of Conflict of Interest: Full disclosure to the editorial board of any conflict of interest that might directly or indirectly affect the evaluation of the submitted research.
- Withdrawal upon Multiple Submission: Avoiding the unethical behavior of sending the research to multiple entities simultaneously; if the researcher wishes to transfer it to another journal, it must be officially withdrawn first.
- Professional Standards and Human Rights: Ensuring the originality of the research and its compliance with professional standards, particularly concerning human rights in cases where human subjects participate in experiments or research.
- Combating Unethical Practices: Total avoidance of all forms of unethical behavior, such as plagiarism, fabrication, and falsification.
- Correction of Material Errors: If the researcher discovers a grave or material error in their published research, they must notify the editorial board immediately to retract or correct the error.
- Engagement with Peer Review: Reviewing and revising the research according to the reviewers' suggestions. In the event that the researcher disagrees with a specific amendment, logical and convincing scientific justification must be provided; otherwise, the journal reserves the full right to refuse publication.
Second: Peer Reviewer Responsibility
- Compliance with International Standards: Full adherence to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) international standards for reviewers when evaluating research.
- Apology and Early Withdrawal: Promptly notifying the managing editor if the reviewer is unavailable or unable to review the submitted research and withdrawing from the process immediately (especially if it falls outside their precise specialization or due to time constraints).
- Prevention of Personal Exploitation: Disassociating oneself from personal interests and refraining from using any information or data contained in the unpublished research for personal gain or to cause detriment to the author or their sponsoring institutions.
- Avoiding Conflict of Interest: Declining to review any research paper that falls within a conflict of interest resulting from competitive, personal, or institutional relationships with the author.
- Detecting Plagiarism and Overlap: Ensuring the research is free from plagiarism and immediately informing the editor-in-chief of any substantial similarity between the current manuscript and any other published works known to the reviewer.
- Strict Data Confidentiality: Rigorous commitment to confidentiality standards; manuscripts received for review must be treated as highly confidential documents that may not be disclosed, shared, or discussed with any party except as authorized by the editor-in-chief.
- Objectivity: Maintaining absolute objectivity and impartiality in judgments and refraining from personal opinions or being influenced by the author's nationality, religion, gender, or background considerations.
- Integrity and Clarity: Expressing scientific opinion with utmost integrity and clarity, while reinforcing the evaluation with arguments and scientific evidence supporting the observations.
- Time Commitment: Adhering to the timeframe allocated for the review process (which is designated by the journal's regulations as a maximum of ten days) to avoid harming the researcher's interests.
