Abstract

Iraq is one of the countries characterized by ethnic, religious and sectarian diversity, and this diversity is a factor of wealth and richness. However, the government policies that the state has followed since its establishment until the present time have negatively affected diversity, and have turned into a factor of weakness and crises, which has affected the national identity and its disintegration in favor of sub-identities. Therefore, the current and upcoming government must employ its institutions (official and unofficial) in favor of building a national identity that all Iraqis can take refuge in, and the most prominent of these institutions is (education) because it is the institution that builds people on loyalty and love of the homeland and spreads peace and tolerance and other things. This is what the Ministries of Education and Teaching are doing through the impact of curricula and scientific activities and the consolidation of the values of citizenship and democracy that emphasize the national identity.
