Abstract

Freedom of the press is a fundamental right that enables individuals and institutions to gather and publish information and express opinions without undue restrictions. This freedom is closely linked to human rights, particularly freedom of expression and access to information, as stated in Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Free media enhances transparency, empowers individuals to make informed decisions, and contributes to exposing corruption and human rights violations. However, freedom of the press faces challenges such as censorship and restrictions on journalists, requiring continuous protection to ensure its independence and its role in supporting democracy and respecting human rights.
