This research explores the concept of "Algorithmic Warfare" as a transformative shift in the nature of modern conflict, driven by rapid advancements in artificial intelligence and machine learning. Warfare is no longer limited to traditional clashes of human wills; it increasingly relies on autonomous systems capable of analysis, decision-making, and execution at speeds and levels of precision that surpass human capabilities. The paper illustrates how algorithms contribute to reducing risks to human combatants and enhancing operational efficiency, while simultaneously raising complex ethical and legal challenges that threaten democratic principles.
The study concludes that Algorithmic Warfare is not merely a technical issue but a strategic necessity that defines the balance of power in the 21st century. It emphasizes the need to bridge the gap between technology and military objectives through regulatory frameworks that ensure both system effectiveness and compliance with humanitarian standards and international law. Ultimately, the research recommends that military and security institutions—particularly in Iraq—must modernize by integrating the concepts of Algorithmic Warfare into their curricula and strategic planning, while investing in the necessary infrastructure to address this existential challenge and ensure superiority in the new digital combat environment.
