Abstract

Citizenship and national ID are relatively modern concepts, and they become an indispensable feature of the national state, and despite the difference between the Western and Islamic visions in terms of citizenship and granting citizenship, contemporary Islamic thought has dealt positively with the above concepts, being Contemporary concepts and must be dealt with according to the jurisprudence of reality, as granting the status must be based on birth and residence without relying on religion as a condition for granting the status, and in return for this opinion there are those who refuse to take citizenship according to the Western vision, but this opinion represents the minority. Contemporary Islamic thought’s acceptance of citizenship for all without the requirement of religion is based on humanize that is included in Islamic Sharia.  Thus reflects the positive Islamic image of dealing with the other and giving rights and defining duties for all without national, religious, or sectarian discrimination.
